Ready for C-section

Once all is set for the C-Section –check out my previous post (Epidural? YES, YES, YES PLEASE!!!)- you are taken from the labor room to the surgery room. Your husband or any other person (just one) will be allowed to stay with you. So you have to say bye-bye to your family and friends for a while. All nurses smiling and making you feel that everything is going to be Okay is wonderful. Even though you are scared, anxious, freaked out, and panicked, all in one. Everything ready, a giant lamp almost in your face and your husband holding your hand. The doctor and the nurses start talking like they are having a coffee in the park. Suddenly, your baby is crying already. The big moment finally arrived. Then your husband is called to cut the umbilical cord, take pictures-videos, and you get impatient. You just want to carry your baby and be sure that everything is Okay. The doctor smiles at you and tells you that everything is fine. The moment they bring the baby and you hold him is the most expected, marvelous, and excited moment in your life. A mixture of emotions gets you like a BOOM! Feeling that overwhelming love and happiness let you breathless, tears of joy run through your cheeks, and you are totally in love with this wonderful little baby of yours. He looks at you and you can read his mind saying: “Mom Here We Go”.

After that they weight, measure and swaddle the baby. More pictures! Then they took the baby and finish the surgery. I remember falling asleep. When I woke up I was in the recuperation room. I still couldn’t feel my legs. I had to stay there until I could move my legs and lift my hips from the bed. Then I was taken to my room.

After you are set in your room and sign some documents they bring your baby, then family and friends can meet him. You are going to be exhausted but you can start feeding and bonding with your baby (skin to skin).

Of course, everyone’s experience is different. Some moms have natural birth, and others have C-section. Some have they babies in hospitals, others at home, and even in water. Sometimes you can take the baby right away or you have to wait a little longer. It all depends on what it’s better for your baby and for yourself. Every body is different, but I think we all share the same magical feeling… LOVE!

Preparada para la Cesárea

Una vez que todo está listo para la Cesárea -chequea el artículo anterior -(Epidural? YES, YES, YES PLEASE!!!)- te llevan de la sala de parto a la sala de cirugía. Tu esposo o cualquier otra persona (sólo uno) podrá permanecer contigo. Así que tienes que decir bye-bye a la familia y amigos por un rato. A pesar de que estás asustada y anciosa, las enfermeras sonriendo te hacen sentir que todo va a estar bien. Todo listo, una lámpara gigante casi en tu cara y tu esposo sosteniendo tu mano. El médico y las enfermeras comienzan a hablar como si estuvieran tomando café en el parque. De repente, escuchas a tu bebé llorando. El gran momento finalmente llegó. Entonces llaman a tu esposo para cortar el cordón umbilical, tomar fotos-videos, y tu te impacientas aún más. Tu sólo quieres cargar a tu bebé y asegúrarte de que todo está Okay. El momento en que lo traen y lo abrazas junto a ti es el momento más esperado, maravilloso y emocionte de tu vida. Una mezcla de emociones te hace sentir como un BOOM! Una felicidad abrumadora te deja sin aliento, con lágrimas de la alegría sientes que estas totalmente enamorada de tu pequeño y maravilloso bebé. Él te mira y ya puedes leer su mente diciendo: “Mom Here We Go”.

Luego toman al bebé lo pesan y miden y pueden tomar mas fotos. Después la enfermera se lo lleva para terminar la cirugía. Recuerdo que me quedé dormida. Cuando me desperté estaba en la sala de recuperación. Todavía no podía sentir mis piernas. Tuve que quedarme hasta que pude moverlas y levantar las caderas de la cama. Entonces me llevaron a mi habitación.

Después de que ya estás cómoda en tu habitación y firmas algunos documentos, te traen a tu bebé, entonces la familia y los amigos pueden conocerlo. Déjame decirte, vas a estar agotada. Pero no importa, comienzas a alimentar y a conectarte con tu bebé (piel-a-piel).

Por supuesto, la experiencia de todos es diferente. Algunas madres tienen parto natural, y otras tienen cesárea. Algunas tienen bebés en el hospital, y otras en la casa e incluso en el agua. A veces puedes tomar al bebé de inmediato o tienes que esperar un poco más. Todo depende de lo que es mejor para tu bebé y para ti. Cada situatión es diferente, pero creo que todos compartimos el mismo mágico y maravilloso sentimiento … ¡AMOR!
